Plagiarism Policy

Russkaya starina is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity and originality. Plagiarism, in any form, is considered a serious violation of responsible scholarly publishing. All submitted manuscripts are expected to contain original work and must properly acknowledge the ideas, words, data, arguments, and materials derived from other sources.

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, presenting another person's words or ideas as one's own, copying substantial portions of previously published material without appropriate citation, inadequate attribution, submitting another person's work under one's own name, and reproducing previously published work without proper acknowledgement. Direct quotations must be clearly identified and appropriately cited, while paraphrased material must also be attributed to the original source.

The journal may use plagiarism-detection or similarity-checking tools as part of its editorial assessment. A similarity report may be considered alongside editorial judgement, as similarity percentages alone do not necessarily establish plagiarism. Common terminology, properly cited quotations, bibliographic information, standard methodological expressions, and other legitimate similarities may contribute to a similarity score.

Manuscripts identified as containing substantial unattributed material may be rejected during the editorial or peer-review process. Depending on the seriousness and nature of the issue, the editorial team may request clarification, revision, additional citations, or other corrective action. Where plagiarism or serious academic misconduct is confirmed after publication, the journal may take appropriate action, which may include issuing a correction, expression of concern, withdrawal, or retraction of the article.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all submitted material is appropriately cited and that the manuscript complies with accepted standards of academic integrity. Authors should also ensure that any previously published material included in the manuscript is properly acknowledged and that the submission does not constitute duplicate or redundant publication.

The journal expects reviewers and editors to report suspected plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct to the editorial team. All allegations will be considered carefully and handled confidentially and fairly, with appropriate attention to the available evidence and relevant publication-ethics principles.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

The use of artificial intelligence tools does not remove an author's responsibility for originality and proper attribution. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and scholarly content of their manuscripts. AI-generated text, ideas, data, references, or other material should not be presented as the author's original work without appropriate disclosure and compliance with the journal's applicable policies.
